July 30 – DC Super Fan Daily Update

The beloved Nationals (38-68) took on the boys from the “City of Brotherly Love” (57-49) tonight at RFK. The Phillies beat the Nats by a score of 2-1 to extend their losing streak to a whopping 7 games. For avid Nationals fans I recommend following this link appropriately or just go out to the game tomorrow night starting at 7:10 pm at Nationals Park.
From: Washington Examiner – Rough Road Ends for Nats
WASHINGTON (Map, News) - It was not exactly the second-half start they wanted. But at the very least the Nationals returned from a post-All-Star break, 11-day, nine-game road trip sporting a few hopeful signs.
They won two of three games at National League East rival Atlanta. The pitching staff surrendered three runs or less four different times. StartersLastings Milledge and Ryan Zimmerman returned to the lineup from the disabled list and unheralded outfielder Willie Harris was named National League Player of the Week.
That’s about as much positive news as a team can wring out of a 2-7 road trip…

WASHINGTON (Map, News) - The Mystics erased any short-term gains they enjoyed in their first week under interim head coach Jessie Kenlaw on Sunday afternoon at Verizon Center, and now have the next long month to wonder if the postseason will ever be within reach after an ugly 82-60 loss to Connecticut.
Washington (10-16) enters the WNBA’s Olympic hiatus at least a game out of the fourth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference and will play the first of eight remaining contests Aug. 29.

Garden City, N.Y. - Adelphi University Head Women’s Lacrosse Coach, Joe Spallina announced the addition of Krista Pellizzi to the coaching staff. Pellizzi will act as the team’s offensive coordinator and will also assist in the recruiting process.
